Coral Restoration Project at Veligandu Maldives

Beneath the surface, a quiet yet powerful effort continues. One rooted in long-term commitment to protecting and restoring the reef that surrounds us.
Since 2020, our coral restoration project has been steadily growing, evolving through the passion and expertise of our marine team. The initiative was first started by Ms Nic, later led by Ms Sarah from November 2024, and is now carried forward by our in-house marine biologist, Ms Ilda, since February 2026. Together, their dedication reflects a shared vision to preserve the delicate ecosystems beneath the surface.
Located directly in front of our Ocean Dive Centre, our house reef is now home to thriving restoration structures, including five coral frames and six coral lines that have already been carefully planted and nurtured. These structures create a foundation for new coral growth, helping restore marine habitats while encouraging biodiversity to flourish.
Guests are invited to become a part of this ongoing journey. During your stay, you can adopt a coral line for USD 106 or a coral fragment for USD 32, and actively contribute to the regeneration of our reef. Each coral is planted with care and continuously monitored by our marine team to ensure it thrives.
What makes this experience truly meaningful is the lasting connection it creates. Even after your stay, your coral continues to grow. Our marine biologist will share updates, photos, and progress reports via email, allowing you to witness the impact of your contribution over time.
We also host special coral planting events throughout the year, where returning guests are warmly invited to join us again, free of charge, on selected occasions as part of our continued conservation efforts.
